$200 <a href="http://asus.reytag.com/category/eee-pc/"target="_self"title="EEE PC reviews" >Eee PC in 2009, according to Engadget.com. Finally, the promise of the $200 Eee PC is, uh, promised again. Jerry Shen, apparently in a meeting with analysts, said that ASUS will launch an Eee PC priced at US$200 in 2009. He also said that 7- and 8.9-inch Eee PCs will be phased out of the market to be replaced by 10-inch models.

Android netbooks on their way, likely by 2010, informs Venturebeat.com. Here’s the significance: Imagine the billion dollar market at stake here if Google can make good on this vision. Netbooks are basically small-scale PCs. For Silicon Valley myriad of software companies, it means a well-backed, open operating system that is open and ripe for exploitation for building upon.

Asus Considering Android-Based Eee PC, according to I.gizmodo.com. We knew Asus is looking into an Android-based cellphone but now CEO Johnny Shih has said at CES that they are thinking about doing an Android-based Eee PC, all while praising Apple for the iPhone. Maybe Asus was inspired by this hack, but the idea of a simplified, cell-enabled netbook computer ‘tablet please’ is very appealing.

Asus Shows a Tablet-Style Eee PC, says Blog.wired.com. At a press conference here at CES 2009, Asus showed a prototype version of the EeePC T91, a convertible tablet-style notebook. Its 8.9-inch swiveling screen folds up to expose a keyboard, like any other notebook or netbook — but it can rotate around and folds back over the keys, turning the device into a tablet.

ASUS Shared Computing Concept, says Slashgear.com. If the Eee Keyboard is a concept ASUS could pretty easily bring to market, their Shared Computing Concept is slightly more left-field.В Designed around an origami theme, the notebook has a quad-fold format whereby the screen and keyboard sections fold into - and cover - the hardware.В More interesting than the physical design, however, is the software; ASUS are really pushing the idea of collaborative working.

ASUS Eee Keyboard touchscreen close-up, informs Slashgear.com. Of all the new products ASUS announced at CES, the Eee Keyboard is one of the most interesting.В A full computer built into a QWERTY keyboard, as well as Ultrawideband HDMI andВ WiFi b/g/n, it also has a 5-inch touchscreen for shortcuts, media browsing and use as a virtual mouse.В While just a prototype at the moment, ASUS were cagey about its potential for market availability; SlashGear spent some more close-up time to see exactly what that touch-display can do. The new Asus Eee T91 and T101 touchscreen netbooks have no release date yet is a bit disappointing, but besides that Asus is well positioned for 2009. Netbooks and touchscreen products shape up to become two major stories at this year’s CES. Asus pioneered the segment two years ago and seems to have an edge over its competitors once again. The upcoming 8.9” EeePc T91 and the 10” EeePC T101H are the first netbooks with a swivel screen - much like what we have seen with tablet PCs in the past.

The Asus Eee Keyboard - a wafer-thin media centre, informs Stuff.tv. The unexpected star of the Asus show - the Eee Keyboard, an Atom-based media centre built into a wafer-thin keyboard. It looks like a keyboard, but wait - apparently It’s the first wireless media center. There’s a 5-inch LCD touchscreen down the right hand side, which is like the screen of your average computer in terms of functionality. The Eee Keyboard is essentially a very attractive shiny metal strip with individually inset keys, and a familiar set of video, audio and USB ports around the back.

Asus Android Smartphone Available in 2009, says Slashphone.com. According to a report on digitimes today, Asustek (Asus) is planning to launch its Android smartphone in 2009 year. It is believed ASUS will initially sell the Android powered devices under its own brand in the Taiwan market, before also launching customized models for overseas clients.

Asus Plans To Launch ВЈ130 2009 Version EEE PC Netbook …, says Itproportal.com. Apple-wannabe and Taiwanese electronics giant Asustek said that it will release an updated, 2009 version of its cheap netbook, the original EEE PC, which kick started the netbook revolution back in 2007. The laptop is expected to cost less than $200 (under £130) and is expected to make its official debut in Q1 2009, possibly at the Las Vegas International Consumer Electronics Show. .

Trendygadget.com - Asus seems benefiting the popular Eee brand for its new full nettop computer which built into a keyboard form factor. The device called as Eee Keyboard and comes with 5-inch touchscreen as a navigation control complete with left and right-click. The Eee Keyboard connect to external display through Ultrawideband HDMI connection and able to connect to internet through WiFi b/g/n or wired ethernet. CES 2009: Asus Builds PC, Touchscreen into EEE Keyboard - Still a …, says Gadgets.softpedia.com. Now, as mentioned right from the start, this device is solely in prototype phase for the time being. However, as our colleagues from Engadget have managed to find out, the EEE Keyboard showcased at CES is actually a near-final prototype, Asus planning to start mass production for this thing as soon as possible.

Asus promises touchscreen Eee in 2009 - Boing Boing Gadgets, according to Gadgets.boingboing.net. And that’s just what Asus seems to be planning. They’ve confirmed that they are intending on launching a touchscreen Eee PC in Q1 of 2009. Additionally, it looks like another iteration of the EeePC will be disgorged, this time in a sub $300 edition.

ASUS Eee Top Touchscreen PC’s Coming 1H 2009, according to Physorg.com. (PhysOrg.com) — Asus has just revealed their 15.6-inch Eee Top touchscreen PC that is powered by an Intel Atom processor N270 (1.60GHz) and Intel 945 GSE core-logic with built-in graphics core. The system features a 160GB hard drive, 1GB of RAM, 4-in-1 card reader, integrated camera, Wi-Fi 802.11n controller and Windows XP Home operating system.

Asus W90 gaming laptop shown at CES 2009, says Cheaplaptops.org.uk. If you are into massive gaming laptops then Asus may just have the laptop you are looking for in their W90 gamer. Asus showed off the W90 gaming laptop at CES 2009, an The Asus W90 packs two ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4870 X2 GPUs, a Core 2 Duo processor, 6GB of DDR2 memory, a world’s first three RAM slots and 6 Altec Lansing speakers and also a Turbo Gear function that lets the gamer over-clock the system up to 25 percent, and Microsoft Vista 64 bit SP1 Premium operating system.

Asus Preps Up $200 Netbook for 2009 Release | Eee PC - Blog, informs Eeepc.net. I recently purchased one of those Linux-based mini laptops from Best Buy. After returning the first one, because it wouldn’t re-boot, and obtaining a second one, I have come to the conclusion that the eee PC notebook computer is the worst computer product I have ever purchased.

Asus To Launch Android Handsets In 2009 - ChinaTechNews.com - The …, according to Chinatechnews.com. Asus will formally launch its Android handsets in Taiwan in 2009. With Asus’ recent launch of its Touch UI handsets, its first handset product based on the Android platform is planned for the first half of 2009. The Open Handset Alliance, a group of more than 30 technology and mobile companies, including Google, developed Android as a software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications.

Santa Clara (CA) – Asus announced its long-awaited Ares gaming PC in the U.S. as well as a more affordable gaming notebook. The Ares CG6155 is available with pretty much any tech money can buy these days – including a Core 2 Extreme QX9650 CPU, up to 4 TB of HDD space, two Gigabit Ethernet ports, up to 8 GB of DDR3 memory, up to three Nvidia GeForce GTX280 graphics cards as well as a liquid cooling system. The power supply supports of to 2 KW.

Pricing has not been released, but do not expect this beast to be available below $5000. More affordable are Asus G50 and G71 gaming notebooks, which went on sale at Best Buy for $1250. However, the notebooks at Best Buy do not quite match the specifications provided by Asus, namely the 9700M GT Nvidia GPU. Best Buy lists the notebook with a 9800M GS graphics processor – and an Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 (2.26 GHz) processor, 4 GB of memory and a 320 GB hard drive.

The 15.6” device (1366×768) isn’t exactly light and weighs in at 7.3 pounds, but the specifications indicate a solid mainstream gaming notebook for those who don’t quite look for bragging rights and the latest and greatest hardware.

With HP’s touchscreen laptop looming on the horizon, out come the leaks of an ASUS touchscreen lappie scheduled for launch in the first half of 2009. Touchscreen <a href="http://asus.reytag.com/category/eee-pc/"target="_self"title="EEE PC reviews" >Eee PCs too ( finally , right?) if DigiTimes ‘ sources at panel makers are correct (which they tend to be with regard to ASUS). According to the Taiwanese industry rag, ASUS will likely use either a 12.1-inch or 11.6-inch touchscreen panel developed by AU Optronics (AUO) or Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO).

What’s odd here is the claim by sources that the touch-panel notebooks “are expected to take advantage of Windows 7 ” and presumably the new Microsoft OS’s multi-touch capabilities . Strange, since Windows 7 isn’t officially expected until sometime in early 2010 — a date looking more and more like a publicly padded goal to avoid the bashing Microsoft received for its Vista delays.

The whispers certainly add a bit more credence to rumors of a 2009 release as expressed by Bill Gates himself , or more specifically June 3rd, 2009 as allegedly marked in the internal Microsoft calendar.

Asus has announced the launch of its N-series range of notebooks with the cheapest being based on Intel’s (cheaper) Atom processors which would normally find their places in entry level Netbook. Instead, the Taiwanese manufacturer chose to flog them in high end, expensive laptops, perhaps in a bid to increase their profit margins/revenues which went down when they introduced their dirt-cheap <a href="http://asus.reytag.com/category/eee-pc/"target="_self"title="Asus EEE PC" >Asus EEE PC range.

There are four different N-labelled notebooks ranging from a 10.2-inch N10 laptop which comes with an integrated Geforce 9300M GPU (certainly the first instance where a powerful GPU solution is paired with an Atom processor) to the affluent N50 that sports a built-in Ionizer to clean your surrounding air.

Now why would a laptop manufacturer put an air-ionizer in a laptop is beyond comprehension and whilst this might be applauded, it would certainly make more sense to have a more useful feature like an integrated TV tuner. The N10 will be able to provide with seven hours worth of battery life thanks to an underclocking feature that brings the CPU speed down to 800MHz. Other features include a HDMI port, Audio Digital IO, Gigabit Internet, Bluetooth, WiFi, 2GB memory, a huge 160GB HDD and a webcam.

Asus has also thrown in a rather nifty piece of technology which combines a webcam with a face recognition software to bring on a potent replacement for logging passwords and fingerprint technology. The Smartlogon system detects the user s face and logs on without any intervention from the user. This system is designed to learn the variations of the user s facial features, and is capable of performing detection in different lighting conditions.

After the success of its highly popular <a href="http://asus.reytag.com/category/eee-pc/"target="_self"title="EEE PC reviews" >Eee PC mini notebooks, Asus is targeting the desktop space with its Eee Box. The company claims that the Eee Box is the world’s smallest desktop PC, as it is only 223 x 178 x 26mm in size without the stand. It is so compact that it can be mounted on the back of an LCD monitor if there isn’t enough desk space. The Eee Box has built-in Wi-Fi 802.11n connectivity, which provides better data transfer speed and wider coverage compared to the older standard.

The notebook also features Asus Express Gate technology, which allows it to boot into a special mode and connect to the Internet in just seven seconds, allowing the user to browse the Web, chat, view photos and make Skype calls. The machine has an Intel Atom N270 (1.6GHz) processor, 1GB RAM, 80GB of storage space and runs on Windows XP Home edition. The Eee Box is priced at RM1,099.

Print | Rate Friday October 10, 2008 4:30 PM CDT - By: Michael Kwan When notebook PCs first emerged on the scene, people thought that it was incredible that you could have a fully functional computer that also happened to be portable. Yeah, the specs were nowhere near what you could expect from a much larger desktop computer, but the portability was a major plus. The specs on today’s laptops are getting a lot closer to what you can do a desktop.

You’ve got notebooks with powerful dedicated graphics cards, up to a terabyte of storage space on a hard drive or two, and even gigantic displays that rival even some standalone LCD monitors. But what if you don’t want something so big, so heavy, and so expensive? The netbook market has largely addressed this very issue and you can probably give most of the credit to the original 7-inch <a href="http://asus.reytag.com/category/eee-pc/"target="_self"title="Asus EEE PC" >Asus Eee PC for popularizing the format. Since then, we’ve seen several offerings from HP, Acer, and even Dell.

Asus is not about to have the spotlight stolen away from it, however, and that’s why they’ve continued to upgrade the line with better features and increased functionality. And that’s where the Asus <a href="http://asus.reytag.com/category/eee-pc/"target="_self"title="EEE PC reviews" >Eee PC 1000H comes into play. I first saw this thing when it was officially unveiled at Computex Taipei during the summer. Most people knew that the announcement was coming, but it was another thing altogether to see the subnotebook in person and officially demonstrated by Asus head honcho Jerry Chen.

He found it, man! As you know, announcements and unveilings are not necessarily followed immediately afterwards with a launch. So, it took some time before these notebooks were made available for public consumption and even longer for them to emerge on the North American market. It took some hullabaloo, but the new Asus Eee PC 901, 1000, and 1000H are finally available in Canada and United States in a reasonably reliable fashion.
