$200 Eee PC in 2009, according to Engadget.com. Finally, the promise of the $200 Eee PC is, uh, promised again. Jerry Shen, apparently in a meeting with analysts, said that ASUS will launch an Eee PC priced at US$200 in 2009. He also said that 7- and 8.9-inch Eee PCs will be phased out of the market to be replaced by 10-inch models.

Android netbooks on their way, likely by 2010, informs Venturebeat.com. Here’s the significance: Imagine the billion dollar market at stake here if Google can make good on this vision. Netbooks are basically small-scale PCs. For Silicon Valley myriad of software companies, it means a well-backed, open operating system that is open and ripe for exploitation for building upon.

Asus Considering Android-Based Eee PC, according to I.gizmodo.com. We knew Asus is looking into an Android-based cellphone but now CEO Johnny Shih has said at CES that they are thinking about doing an Android-based Eee PC, all while praising Apple for the iPhone. Maybe Asus was inspired by this hack, but the idea of a simplified, cell-enabled netbook computer ‘tablet please’ is very appealing.

Asus Shows a Tablet-Style Eee PC, says Blog.wired.com. At a press conference here at CES 2009, Asus showed a prototype version of the EeePC T91, a convertible tablet-style notebook. Its 8.9-inch swiveling screen folds up to expose a keyboard, like any other notebook or netbook — but it can rotate around and folds back over the keys, turning the device into a tablet.

ASUS Shared Computing Concept, says Slashgear.com. If the Eee Keyboard is a concept ASUS could pretty easily bring to market, their Shared Computing Concept is slightly more left-field.В  Designed around an origami theme, the notebook has a quad-fold format whereby the screen and keyboard sections fold into - and cover - the hardware.В  More interesting than the physical design, however, is the software; ASUS are really pushing the idea of collaborative working.

ASUS Eee Keyboard touchscreen close-up, informs Slashgear.com. Of all the new products ASUS announced at CES, the Eee Keyboard is one of the most interesting.В  A full computer built into a QWERTY keyboard, as well as Ultrawideband HDMI andВ WiFi b/g/n, it also has a 5-inch touchscreen for shortcuts, media browsing and use as a virtual mouse.В  While just a prototype at the moment, ASUS were cagey about its potential for market availability; SlashGear spent some more close-up time to see exactly what that touch-display can do. The new Asus Eee T91 and T101 touchscreen netbooks have no release date yet is a bit disappointing, but besides that Asus is well positioned for 2009. Netbooks and touchscreen products shape up to become two major stories at this year’s CES. Asus pioneered the segment two years ago and seems to have an edge over its competitors once again. The upcoming 8.9” EeePc T91 and the 10” EeePC T101H are the first netbooks with a swivel screen - much like what we have seen with tablet PCs in the past.

The Asus Eee Keyboard - a wafer-thin media centre, informs Stuff.tv. The unexpected star of the Asus show - the Eee Keyboard, an Atom-based media centre built into a wafer-thin keyboard. It looks like a keyboard, but wait - apparently It’s the first wireless media center. There’s a 5-inch LCD touchscreen down the right hand side, which is like the screen of your average computer in terms of functionality. The Eee Keyboard is essentially a very attractive shiny metal strip with individually inset keys, and a familiar set of video, audio and USB ports around the back.

Asus Android Smartphone Available in 2009, says Slashphone.com. According to a report on digitimes today, Asustek (Asus) is planning to launch its Android smartphone in 2009 year. It is believed ASUS will initially sell the Android powered devices under its own brand in the Taiwan market, before also launching customized models for overseas clients.

Asus Plans To Launch ВЈ130 2009 Version EEE PC Netbook …, says Itproportal.com. Apple-wannabe and Taiwanese electronics giant Asustek said that it will release an updated, 2009 version of its cheap netbook, the original EEE PC, which kick started the netbook revolution back in 2007. The laptop is expected to cost less than $200 (under £130) and is expected to make its official debut in Q1 2009, possibly at the Las Vegas International Consumer Electronics Show.  .

Trendygadget.com - Asus seems benefiting the popular Eee brand for its new full nettop computer which built into a keyboard form factor. The device called as Eee Keyboard and comes with 5-inch touchscreen as a navigation control complete with left and right-click. The Eee Keyboard connect to external display through Ultrawideband HDMI connection and able to connect to internet through WiFi b/g/n or wired ethernet. CES 2009: Asus Builds PC, Touchscreen into EEE Keyboard - Still a …, says Gadgets.softpedia.com. Now, as mentioned right from the start, this device is solely in prototype phase for the time being. However, as our colleagues from Engadget have managed to find out, the EEE Keyboard showcased at CES is actually a near-final prototype, Asus planning to start mass production for this thing as soon as possible.

Asus promises touchscreen Eee in 2009 - Boing Boing Gadgets, according to Gadgets.boingboing.net. And that’s just what Asus seems to be planning. They’ve confirmed that they are intending on launching a touchscreen Eee PC in Q1 of 2009. Additionally, it looks like another iteration of the EeePC will be disgorged, this time in a sub $300 edition.

ASUS Eee Top Touchscreen PC’s Coming 1H 2009, according to Physorg.com. Asus W90 gaming laptop shown at CES 2009, says Cheaplaptops.org.uk. If you are into massive gaming laptops then Asus may just have the laptop you are looking for in their W90 gamer. Asus showed off the W90 gaming laptop at CES 2009, an The Asus W90 packs two ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4870 X2 GPUs, a Core 2 Duo processor, 6GB of DDR2 memory, a world’s first three RAM slots and 6 Altec Lansing speakers and also a Turbo Gear function that lets the gamer over-clock the system up to 25 percent, and Microsoft Vista 64 bit SP1 Premium operating system.

Asus Preps Up $200 Netbook for 2009 Release | Eee PC - Blog, informs Eeepc.net. I recently purchased one of those Linux-based mini laptops from Best Buy. After returning the first one, because it wouldn’t re-boot, and obtaining a second one, I have come to the conclusion that the eee PC notebook computer is the worst computer product I have ever purchased.

Asus To Launch Android Handsets In 2009 - ChinaTechNews.com - The …, according to Chinatechnews.com. Asus will formally launch its Android handsets in Taiwan in 2009. Instead, the Taiwanese manufacturer chose to flog them in high end, expensive laptops, perhaps in a bid to increase their profit margins/revenues which went down when they introduced their dirt-cheap Asus EEE PC range.

Print | Rate Friday October 10, 2008 4:30 PM CDT - By: Michael Kwan When notebook PCs first emerged on the scene, people thought that it was incredible that you could have a fully functional computer that also happened to be portable. Yeah, the specs were nowhere near what you could expect from a much larger desktop computer, but the portability was a major plus. The specs on today’s laptops are getting a lot closer to what you can do a desktop.
